how do I know He really loves me?

nine things God simply loves about YOU

Psalm 139 says He knew you before you were born. He knit you together in your mother’s womb. You were planned way before you even existed. God put thought and care in to your design.

We are living in very challenging times. In this world, the lines are terribly blurred between right and wrong, the world says there are no absolutes, and truth is relative. It’s often difficult for us to believe there’s a God who loves us when there is so much despair and pain in this world.

Not much in today’s world speaks to the love we should have for God, or the love He has for us, and this often leaves us wondering, how do I know He really loves me?

Disappointment isn’t proof that God is withholding good things from us. It’s His way of leading us Home.
— Lysa Terkeurst

I understand how one might question this, especially if your life is riddled with one trial and disappointment after another. However, would we really seek God if everything in life went as planned and we were never challenged, never had any disappointments, or if we were never pushed outside of our comfort zone?

In her book, It’s Not Supposed to be This way, author Lysa TerKeurst reminds us that here on earth we will have trials because we are living between two gardens, the Garden of Eden and the new garden yet to come with Christ’s return.

We will never desire the hope of our True Love if lesser loves don’t disappoint. The piercing angst of disappointment in everything on this side of eternity creates a discontent with this world & pushes us to long for God Himself—and for our true & eternal Home.” ~Lysa Terkeurst

We can trust that God really loves us because He loves us too much to let us be satisfied with the things of this world. He created us to long for something more, something better. We feel less than, and question God’s love for us because of the lies this world tells us about God, and who the world wants us to believe we are to Him.

Well, I am here to shed light on the lies our enemy and this world want you to believe about God and His love for you. This is simply nine of the hundreds of things I could tell you God loves about you!

So, here’s to encouraging you that God sees you. He knows you. He catches your tears, and He loves the sound of your laughter. Truth be told, He’s crazy about you. Who else would go to the cross for you?

1.     God loves you! He made you and He made no one else on earth with your same DNA. Scripture tells us in the book of Psalms, You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

2.    God Loves the way you seek Him and His truth. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “ You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

3.    God loves that you ask questions. You ask BIG questions that only He knows the answers to, and He loves that you dare to ask. God is big enough to handle your questions and He loves it because it teaches you to trust and to know Him better. Isaiah 55:8, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

4.    God loves what you don’t see. Romans 10:12, “For there is no difference between Jew & Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him.” Some people only see differences and create division. You see souls who need Jesus and share the news of his love.

5.    God loves the way you pray. 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Pray continually. God loves it when you talk to Him like a friend. He loves your on-going dialogue, in the shower, in the car, on the bus, in the quiet morning, or the still of the night. He loves your voice.

6.    God loves the way you listen for His voice, listen for that still small voice in the midst of the noise of this world. John 10:27, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

7.    God loves the way you fight. The way you run the race set before you, how you encourage others along the way, and to invite others to join the race. Hebrews 12:1-2, Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us…

8.    God knows all your scars and He loves them, and He loves to lavish His healing love on you. Our brokenness draws us closer to Him. Psalm 34:18, The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

9.    You flavor His world, and He loves it! Matthew 5:13, “You are the salt of the earth.”  No one else is like you. No one else can do what you were created to do. God created you to flavor the world around you with a kind word, a gentle word of hope, or being a glimpse of Jesus for a lost soul.

“Though we are incomplete, God loves us completely. Though we are imperfect, He loves us perfectly. Though we may feel lost and without compass, God's love encompasses us completely. ... He loves every one of us, even those who are flawed, rejected, awkward, sorrowful, or broken.” ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf

“Here's the paradox. We can fully embrace God's love only when we recognize how completely unworthy of it we are.” ~ Ann Tatlock
